MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - 7th GRADE PLAY

One of Shakespeare’s most renowned works, Midsummer Night’s Dream, tells the story of four lovers in the woods. The 7th graders at Bullis Charter School have been studying this play in class for several months and culmination of all their hard work has been towards performing a completely student run play of Midsummer Night’s Dream.

This year, the students of Cast 2 have decided to do a 1950’s Grease style interpretation of the play. While watching this play, audiences can see it in a completely different light - through the eyes of students. Audiences can gain perspective into how students perceive, interpret, and connect this play to real life experiences.

Play location:  Bus Barn Theater at 97 Hillview Ave, Los Altos, CA 94022

Buy Tickets for June 4th at 1:30 pm (Cast 1) and 6:30 pm (Cast 2)

Buy Tickets for June 5th at 7:30 pm (Cast 1).  Click the link on the left to access tickets to the June 4th, 8:30 am show

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

With less than a month left before the 6th Biennial Junior Olympics (June 2nd), we REALLY need volunteers to help us pull off this year’s event! As the hosting school, the BCS community should be setting the example for the other schools and providing leadership to ensure that the event is a success. Even if your student is not competing in any events, we encourage your family to still come out to meet participants from other schools and spread goodwill and sportsmanship across charter schools throughout Santa Clara County!

SOUTH CAMPUS: PLEASE JOIN US TO HONOR OUR VOLUNTEERS!

Please join us to honor our volunteers on May 18th Assembly at South Campus - with special treats at our Volunteer Fair before and after each assembly.

We see you standing there - you hot-lunch volunteers melting slowly under the noon sun’s scorching rays one week and the next braving Alaskan gales with only a traffic-cone orange vest as cover. And you, weekly library volunteers - the ones who impose order upon the unwieldy Early Nonfiction stacks while sparking a love of literacy and quiet spaces of imagination. And hey there event volunteers, registration martyrs, water station mavens and cakewalk ringmasters - amongst the myriad of other roles that hundreds of you have filled throughout the year. Without you none of these community building events could have happened. We see you giving your time, your talents, your sanity and most especially, your heart. And we want to recognize you. Please allow us to thank you during the Friday assembly on May 18th at South Campus. If you can’t make it, please visit us before or after these assemblies at our curbside Volunteer Fair for coffee and treats and to receive a small token of our appreciation for all that you do for the school.

Yearbook ordering deadline!

It’s Yearbook time once again!  This year we are again using Tree Ring to create our Yearbook.

If you are a returning parent you can use the account you created last year to order and create custom pages for your child.  If you are a new parent, create your own online TreeRing account or download the app to get started.

Purchase your Yearbook by Apr 27th to have it delivered to the school before the end of the year.  No curbside sales this year.  You must purchase now to get a book.  If you wait until the end of the year to see how cute the books are and then decide to buy one you can still get it delivered to your home over the summer BUT your child won't have signatures from their friends (typically the last day party devotes time to this activity).

Instructions for ordering can be found at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Z8c5_aVdfWdlJXeGJHUTdUNXc/view

Author Visit: Adam Gidwitz (Grades 3-5)

We are very excited about the Newbery Honor-winning author Adam Gidwitz’s visit to BCS. He will be speaking about his new book The Unicorn Rescue Society: The Creature of the Pines.

"Elliot Eisner isn’t exactly excited about starting at a brand-new school in a brand-new town; he’d much rather stay at home and read a book. But things take an unexpected turn when he finds out his weird new teacher, Professor Fauna, has planned a field trip for Elliot’s very first day. Along with a new friend—brave, outspoken Uchenna Devereaux—Elliot gets caught up in a secret group of adventurers, The Unicorn Rescue Society, whose goal is to protect and defend the world’s mythical creatures. Together with Professor Fauna, Elliot and Uchenna must help rescue a Jersey Devil  from a duo of conniving, greedy billionaires, the Schmoke Brothers."

Students in grades 3-5 will be attending his presentation, though any student may preorder a book. The south campus students’ presentation is April 18 at 11:30 in the south campus MPR; the north campus students’ presentation is April 18 at 1:30 in the north campus MPR. Please use the link below to pre-order a book to be signed by Adam. Orders are due Friday, April 6 at 3:00pm in your campus’ respective office.
